Slipper-less in Sarasota, redux
Some of you have been wondering about my slipper situation. I have to tell you, I am so flattered that there are so many concerned with my feet being warm and comfy.
And, since I did find the camera (in my make up bag????) I thought I would add the photos I teased you with.
As you can see, I am not the only one walking around with one slipper.

Slipper---less in Sarasota
You may remember my rant about the dishwasher during which I mentioned that I frequently walk around with one slipper because Cooper takes and then taunts me with the other one.
Well, it seems that MRA has taken notice and begun to copy Cooper thus leaving me slipper-less. And, yes, I mean copying Cooper exactly. I have a photo depicting this. Cooper sitting with one slipper hanging out of his mouth and MRA sitting next to him with the other slipper, you guessed, hanging out of his mouth. But, the camera has disappeared (insert loud sigh here).
The camera, also held this Wordless Wednesday's photo. I am sure it will turn up but probably not in any timely fashion and as soon as it does, something else I need will disappear.
The good news is I did find the spare keys under the sofa cushions this morning. I found them while looking for my slippers.

Now that's the life...
Most of the time I am pretty happy to be an adult. Being a kid was not so much fun (as I remember it) and high school was downright miserable.
But every now and then, I see MRA and I think, hmmmm, life aint so bad when you are one. (I also frequently think this about Cooper. Being a dog, in our house, is a pretty sweet gig.)

And sow a seed was planted
Its amazing sometimes how things get started. I can directly credit the beginning of this blog to my friend Christie.
It was 2009 and I was pregnant. Five or six months pregnant in fact. We had just adopted Cooper. Actually, we adopted Cooper several months earlier, in fact, we adopted Coop 2 days after we found out I was pregnant (although it had been in the works for weeks.)
As new dog owners, we were still adjusting to the responsibilities. And so it was that we had run out of dog food and jonathan called to ask me if I could stop on the way home. Of course, that afternoon, we had one Florida's famous summer storms and, of course, it started while I was in the pet store.
I came out of PetSmart and it was pouring rain and lightening and thundering. So, what's a pregnant girl who really needs to get home to pee do but throw the 20lb pound bag over the shoulder, take off the shoes and run for it. By the time I got to the car and fished out the keys, I was pretty wet, the dog food bag was soaked and I was in a pretty bad mood.
I finally get home and open the door to this...
When I told Christie the story, she said "You really need to start a blog. I have a feeling between the dog and a baby, you are going to have a lot of good stories going forward."
Well, it took a while but I finally did it. Thanks, Christie!

Can't you throw a dog a bone?
I have a friend, Julie, she is a total dog person and helped us adopt Cooper. I used to get some good Cooper footage on here but lately Cooper has not done much that could be considered blog-worthy.
Truth be told, Cooper has a lot of fans, Julie included. And, I have felt a little guilty not posting much about him.
But alas, video is here. For all Cooper's fans...

The Notorious MRA v Cooper, Round 124
This post could just as easily be entitled "Navy SEAL in training". Seriously, look at the stealth. The speed. The determination. The bravery. He never gives up, he keeps going back for more.
Sadly, he loses. Cooper is the winner. Which means, that if we roll with the foreshadowing, the SEAL thing probably won't work out in his favor.
Which also means that I should kidnap him (once he is old enough to enlist) and move to Canada before I allow a career in the military. Actually, make that Italy, at least then I would be assured that both sides of the family would come to visit us. While I am sure Canada is lovely, I am not sure anyone would venture up there to see us.
Do you feel sorry for Cooper yet?

I'm Gonna Get You Sucka
Month nombre huit (that's number eight for those of you who took Spanish) has brought many new developments and LOTS of changes to the Angel house. Most notably, MOVEMENT!!!!!
MRA figured out how to get going and can't seem to stop!
MRA figured out how to get going and can't seem to stop!
What does this mean, exactly? Well, we have to pay a lot more attention and can no longer plop him down in the hall outside the bathroom while we get ready in the morning. Which is a royal pain in the butt. However, Cooper has probably been the most affected (effected, affected, I never get it right - but you can make the mental leap, right?)
MRA now tracks Cooper down and climbs him like Mt. Everest. Coop is a good sport for a while but he definitely has his limits. When his patience have hit the max, Cooper tries to politely walk away. At which time MRA tracks him down. This is what it may look like from Cooper's perspective...
Now with all this exciting activity, we (mistakenly) thought it would help MRA with his daily naps, but nooooooo way, Jose. MRA still fights his naps. This past weekend we put him in his crib for a nap and let him cry for a few minutes. He did, eventually, fall asleep... sitting up. He's just couldn't give in all the way. Stubborn little guy. Wonder where he gets that from????

Finally, a use for Cooper!
Last week, my sister-in-law, Robin, had to say farewell, to one of her dogs, Grant. I never knew Grant as a puppy but as an older dog, he was as sweet as could be. I know how hard it was for her to lose him. So, in an act of complete selflessness, Jonathan and I offered to give her Cooper. We really tried to sell her on the idea and offered the following description:
"He has some special skills - he likes to weed (dig up house plants) and keep the floors free of all new material (we really did not need that thing you put under the rug to keep it from sliding around - it works much better when it is in pieces). He is also an exceptional greeter for the neighborhood (bolts out the front door and down the street at any given time but especially to see another dog or person). AND, if you need to shred paper towels, he is a pro. Just let us know. He may even come with a small endowment."
Well, its a good thing she did not take us up on the offer as we have just discovered how helpful he can be with MRA. Just watch and see...

A boy and his dog!
Some may say that there is no love that is greater than that between a mother and her child. And I can say that love is pretty strong but the love between a boy and his dog is pretty great too, even at only 6 months of age.
Last night the Notorious MRA was a little crankypants due to no naps. He fussed and fussed and fussed. Until we sat him on the sofa with Cooper. MRA, much to our surprise, reached out and wrapped his chubby little arms around Cooper and gave him a giant hug. He continued to play with him and giggled and giggled.
Of course, in typical infant fashion, he also tried to eat Cooper's nose and leg which makes us think that MRA thinks he is a HUGE stuffed toy that moves and licks him. Who knows what really goes on in the mind of a baby. Nevertheless, it was super sweet and we have few photos to prove it.
Enjoy!
