And you thought I was done talking about boobs!

My sister just gave birth to my sweet nephew and Godson, JV. He is now 9 days old and she is learning how to breast feed. I know I have mentioned before that the books and articles and the blasted Internet all say how awesome and easy nursing is. And it is, but not in the beginning. Or maybe it is - but I don't know any of the women who had that experience.

So, she is trying to learn, along with JV, all the nuances of nursing. Earlier today, I was talking to her on the phone and she was telling me that he is getting really fussy and has started to experience the witching hour (or really the-witching-block-of-time-that-usually-coincides-with-everyone-elses-happy-hour hour.)

I'm listening to all this and remembering my own experience. I am also in the grocery store getting ready to check out. And my advice to her, standing in front of the cashier and bag boy is, "When he starts fussing, stick your boob in his mouth!"

They, the cashier and bag boy -that is, did not make eye contact with me after that and it did not occur to me why until a few minutes ago. I pretty sure that if I went back now and tried to explain, it wouldn't help, it would probably just reinforce the crazy, right?

Have a great week!

As soon as I get the ok, I will post a picture of my JV!

Happy Friday and MRA is actually a fish

My niece is coming, y'all! Tomorrow the Divine Ms. Megan will grace our house for a few days. So I am busy removing dog hair from the floor and syrup from every other surface prepping for her arrival. We are all so excited to see her.

In other news, MRA is part fish, sort of...

The one I cannot watch

I know that the older I get the more things seem to fall apart, on me, that is. I remember being a child and seeing my mother suffer with motion sickness. I just couldn't understand it and it was annoying.

Well, a few years ago, while driving around the hills of Tuscany (sounds romantic, doesn't it), I discovered just how annoying motion sickness can be. I was in the back seat and had to try and focus on a fixed point so I would not be sick.

Then, whilst pregnant, I discovered that the descent on an airplane made me horrible sick. Fortunately, that ended with each baby's arrival.

So I know, I cannot read in the car or sit in the back seat during mountain drives or use a micro-fiche machine too fast (thank goodness those are becoming obsolete) what I did not know was that I would not be able to watch videos of my children. This one in particular...

21 seconds of pure nausea. But I hope Grandma and Grandpa enjoy it!

You know its been a while when...

my brother sends me an email that says I am slacking on my blog.

I was a little surprised myself to see that it has been two weeks without so much as a Wordless Wednesday. As for excuses, I was out of town the first week and last week was busy entertaining diease and pestulance in my humble abode.

I think everyone is better now but geesh it was a rough 10 days. Trust me when I say there are no pictures and that is a good thing. Although, I would belying if I didn't admit that I ought to take a few as no one would believe me otherwise.

So here are few photos from the last two weeks...

And a little video - sorry its sideways!
